Our sewing program was redesigned in 2017 to offer training and income opportunities to a new group of women who were previously working in the dump. We provide a 6-week intensive training course to selected applicants. Once accepted into the program, women work on a weekly basis under the guidance of our sewing coordinator. We work to continuously find orders from both local and international institutions. Our women are paid a justified hourly wage for their work and payment is based on one's skill set.
We plan to offer free classes to Creamos/Safe Passage community to ensure all women are afforded the opportunity to learn how to sew. By doing this, we hope to improve the skill set of the community while offering an alternative way to make a living.
